Me And Those Dreamin’ Eyes of Mine, Cruisin, Brown Sugar, Cocoa Brown, Don’t Say…
When I was on my trip around Taiwan I met a friend who played the guzheng (古箏), a Chinese zither. I enjoyed hearing him play. I recorded a few songs with my cell phone. The one I liked hearing the most was 笑傲江湖 (Xiao Ao Jiang Hu). When I got home I found this other song that had a guzheng in it. It’s from a modern day pop movie, but the style is classic. I’ve been playing these songs on repeat for a while now. I’d like to find instrumental versions.
Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅) and Richie Ren (任賢齊) from
the movie Elixir of Love.
花好月圓
The theme song to the movie 笑傲江湖 (Swordsman),
sung by Sam Hui (許冠傑).
滄海一聲笑
I’m not sure what they’re saying but I can feel it. They’re singing in Cantonese (廣東話). 我願望會聼得懂 (I wish I could understand). Another song I’ve been playing is 心太軟 (Too Soft-hearted) by Richie Ren. I remember when I was on a trip to Taoyuan (桃園) with the Taipei Rotary Club, we sang Karokee on the bus. One of the outgoing guys that everyone called Wang Leehom sang this song. He sang pretty well too.
