Think Big

Finding a home away from home.
Four years ago I was working in an IT office in Northern Virginia wearing a suit and tie. Today I’m wearing a t-shirt and cargo pants volunteering in the Beijing Olympics. Back then I had a dream to come to China to learn Chinese, teach English and have a grand adventure. Three years ago I left that well paying IT job and came to China. That’s when the excitement began.
In 2006, on my 125cc Honda NSR I rode solo around the island of Taiwan for 19 days. That was the most exhilarating experience of my life. That was the adventure I was looking for. Now in Beijing I am a student again and chasing my next dream. I have a passion for learning Chinese. My goal is to take that passion into my work and to find work that I enjoy.
Beijing 2008, after three years in China I’ve become a lover of Chinese culture and made a countless number of Chinese friends. I’m lucky to be able to follow my dreams, and even luckier to be able to participate in this year’s Olympics. The Olympic Games, Chairman George (a 2008 Olympic Torch Bearer from Canada) and I all have a common belief, that is, “Live your passion. Passion is fundamental.” Let’s all find our passion.
