Can we be friends?

I’ve been asked this before and was asked again today. She came to my dorm room. How did she know which dorm room is mine? I met her once in the lobby of the foreign students dorm (for Chinese students to get in they have to sign-in at the front desk and say who they are visiting). And Chinese people say Americans are straightforward. Usually, when we meet someone for the first time, we chat with them and if we hit it off we’ll get together again. We gradually become friends. So, when someone says hi to me and the next thing they say is, “Can we be friends?” I won’t say no but it feels a bit awkward. I might not really want to get in touch with them later either. 我该说“不方便”吗?我也不太喜欢这个说法，不会给假的号码，也不会说”不能当朋友”。算了，别说了。
另外，千万不要在气头上捶你的移动盘，它很容易坏！
