In regard to this post and the event my mom had this to say...

i wished i have seen the mtv coverage you mentioned- instead i saw the media coverage by the other major networks - i saw a lot of repetitions and some interviewers who wanted to get more sensational comments from their subjects by their leading questions-your comments show that the va tech students and alumni are intelligent, reasonable people--we know all kinds of tragedies happen in this world - a very horrific one took place very close to home at va tech - a great university that we love and one that has given so much to so many in her years of existance-and will continue to do so in the future- we mourn deeply the loss of so many students and faculty- people who were our family members because they were all hokies--in spite fo what happend at va tech on monday , april 16th 2007-va tech will always be a great university- a place we honor and love-i hope you will post your email so that others can be uplifted by your words- thank you

and my uncle wrote...

It is a terrible thing this one crazy & apparently very angry kid did. (No real clear indication yet why he is so angry, inside him internally). So terrible, for all those victims & family.

I agree with you about the cynical media thing. I must have read way too much of those articles where reporters (with 20/20 hindsight) keeps trying to lay blame, try to trick, bait, or trap VT officials/students into saying things that can be taken as "the school/cops/medical folks MUST have missed early signs, MUST have done something real wrong to let it come to this".

In my line of work, I see reporters that don't report news, they try to create news as they see it, just so they can report it as a scoop for themselves. Kind of sad, really.

Friday here at our office is VT memorial-rally day for us. I will be wearing my VT sweatshirt to work, I think you or your mom gave it to me.

Placing the blame doesn't help cope with the losses. Even if he was here to blame it won't bring back the lives of those lost. It's sad that such an awful act like this has happened. How can this happen? It's unthinkable.
