This little guy didn’t make it but I’m going to. If learning another language is like a game like 李老師 said. Then, I’m going to master it like I used to master all my Nintendo games.

10 years later will i still be roaming
is being lost a good thing or a bad thing
is your definition of lost the same as mine
maybe not
10 years later…will i be able to translate

1 Year Mark

Saturday, June 24th, 2006

I got an email from my Dad. It’s been one year since I’ve been in China (don’t think politically). Actually, the 27th is one year. I miss home but I’m enjoying my life here. “To infinity, and beyond!”

Hi Ben,
Congratulations on your 1-year anniversary in china!
We are very proud of your endeavors and accomplishments.
You have challenged yourself and you will continue to reap benefits from this outlook on life.
Cheers

70°

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

A cool 70°. I can sleep like this. I went back to the doctor and saw the funny big guy. He’s real funny when he gets his massage. He looks older than me but he’s only 17. I learned his name but don’t know how to write it. Xie Ji Liang.

My days are starting early. I was making my way to Chinese class with the rest of the morning commuters. 我早上八點要上課. Work is busy and with studying my days are longer. I should be sleeping. In just a few I will.

My Chinese teacher 康小姐 (Ms. Kang or Fanny) prepared a lot for my first class. I’m really excited about having this opportunity to study. I can finish the textbook I already have. She says she is still studying to be a teacher so we are helping each other. I’m really appreciative.

I have a few friends I need to write. I’m do that. My back is almost better. I don’t heal as fast as Wolverine. I can start to exercise this weekend. These days I’ve also had some allergy trouble with my nose. I’ve been taking some Chinese medicine. It’s powder you have to eat and it’s quite bitter but I’m used to it now.
