Cozy

Friday, December 30th, 2005

I took this when I was comfortable at May’s house. The weekend before I moved out, after two months of staying with her. I really have to thank her. Before going to Taiwan, I wanted to do everything on my own, find a job, a place to live. Sometimes, it doesn’t hurt to get a hand from someone else. She helped me adjust to Taipei life a lot.

The day I took this picture, I didn’t want to get out of bed.

Generations

The old one (Grandpa), the middle (Cousin Matthew) and the youngest (Cousin Gary) generation pictured below. The oldest one doesn’t use a computer. The middle one has apdapted to using a cell phone and computer to stay connected. The youngest lives by it. The games, the Internet, since they were little.

I didn’t have a cell phone until my second year in college. I didn’t like talking on it at first. Still not that fond of it and will often miss calls. I didn’t have a computer until I needed one for my first year of college. I grew up without a computer. That seems weird now that nowaways you see a computer wherever you go. I did have Nintendo around 8 years old or so. Gaming is similiar to being online or using a computer. When can we terraform Mars or another 行星? Talk to our computers like Star Trek. The future is going to be cool.

八步螳螂拳 or Eight Step Praying Mantis Boxing, that’s the style of wushu I started learning under 師傅左顯富 (Master Zuo Xian-Fu).

金山 #005

Last Saturday I went to 阿媽’s again. The weather was beautiful last Saturday. What did we do? We hung out at the shop, played 麻將 (Mahjong) and slept in sleeping bags in a really cold room in the mountains. I went for a bike ride and took photos of the sunset on Christmas day. 阿祥 took me to see one his teachers, 李老師 (Li Laoshi), he taught them how to make wood pieces and furniture. I made a stool! I just did the sanding and hammering, 李老師 did most the work. On Sunday night we were going to go to 九分 (Jiufen) but 順子’s car broke down in Keelung. I practiced wushu too. How I would live if I didn’t live in the city?
