Shelf Project

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

Thanks to my buddy Ray, who helped me to complete this shelf project in my extra bedroom, I now have a study, it’s cool like a lion’s den except I have electricity. I also have shelves full of books and yet no time to read them. I wish had time or that I could read really fast, like Johnny 5 from the movie Short Circuit.

I like to buy books from used book sales, during the last hour of a book sale at a Fairfax County library, you can get a brown paper grocery bag full of books for just $3. It’s great to browse on a lazy afternoon and find a nice book for cheap.

The Optimist Club

Monday, March 28th, 2005

Today was a good day. Went to church this morning at CCVA, heard some testimonials and then went to dim sum with a group of 十三。 Dim Sum was really great, chatting and having fun. Yesterday was much fun too.

But for some reason though, this afternoon I was kind of down. Maybe it was some things I had on my mind, or maybe it was the rain. Either case, I had a plan already to go for a long drive. I persuaded a friend to come with, actually, to drive us. On the way to a rural spot in Maryland, almost to our destination we passed a sign that said the Optimist Club, Bingo. Once I saw that I had to chin up. It was just funny to see that sign, would’ve been nice to get a photo. I think it was karma, after that, my day went very well. Do you want to join my new club, the Optimist Club? Let me know, you can.

Learn Wushu

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

Wushu (武术) is the national sport of China — in 2008, it’ll be introduced as an event at the Beijing Olympics. While kung fu sticks to the traditional moves, wushu constantly evolves, adding more tricks, twists and turns. Advanced feats include a 720-degree spinning tornado kick and a butterfly kick that resembles a sideways-twisting layout (arial-twist).
